[ It's somewhere outside the meeting hall that they run into each other, Minato seeming to have just exited the building despite the trial having been over and done with hours ago.
He looks up at North, trying to think back after all that's happened— and then shakes his head. ]

[She huffs, giving him a look of mild disbelief. Almost like she just saw someone wonder where the paint on their palm came from after sticking their hand in a bucket of wet paint.]
What's there to understand? People like that— They only see those around them as objects to be used for their own entertainment. If you're searching for ways to empathize with them, you're going to be disappointed.

There have been many times in the last year where he envied an android's body— no pain, no need to sleep, they could lose and arm and a leg and still keep going somehow- but the emotional toll can't be that much different from a human's. ]

Lots of people ruin other people's lives, but they can still be reasoned with. ...Sometimes. With enough effort.

[Ah. Well this is touching and all, but perhaps it would be a teeny bit more effective if Minato didn't look like death knocked on his door and then mugged him for spare change. North's running on fumes, even without any sign of physical damage, but that doesn't stop her from grimacing once she gets a proper look at him.]

[ He made it out okay? He made it out alive, and that's Minato's criteria for "okay," when it comes to himself. The question makes him smile a little, though, because while it comes with the implication of "you idiot, go back to bed," it also means that North cares. A little. Maybe. ]
