If it's a matter of hygiene, I'd say that it might've been more prudent to mention several weeks ago, given the general state of where we're living. And if it's about keeping a pet... well, they were here when I got here.

At least cats are relatively independent. [ so he's been told, anyway. ] So even if one of us dies on them, at least they won't be left without a way to fend for themselves.
You really think some of us would go out of our way to kill the cats specifically? Admittedly, we don't have a good track record, but the last two times at least the victims were those who were considered one of us.

... There's always killing them as some sort of indirect revenge, but I'd like to hope no one here is quite that petty.
